The workshop follows on from the success of the workshops held in Moree during the April school holidays.
BWA's international and Australian guest teachers will be back in Moree in January 2020 as part of a summer workshop tour across North West NSW and South East Queensland. They will be holding dance workshops with local dance schools for all ability and experience levels, from seven-year-olds to adults.
As part of the summer workshop tour, BWA has started a Dancers for Drought initiative and will be delivering dance wear and costumes donated from all over Australia to the dancers and dance schools in many severely drought affected towns, including Moree, where financial hardships are making everyday life difficult, let alone extras such as dance costumes.
BWA is also offering several sponsored positions at each workshop so that a few students may attend free of charge.
At the conclusion of each workshop there will be a free community concert where members of the local communities are invited to watch a showcase and share in the joy that dance brings, while enjoying a brief time out from the drought.
The three-day Moree workshop, hosted by Moree Academy of Dance, will be held from January 20 to 22 and will feature classes in ballet, contemporary, character, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, strength and conditioning, and adult dance.
The free Moree community concert will be held at 3.30pm on January 22.
The cost of the workshop is $200 for the three days, with private coaching available upon request for an additional cost.
Places are limited, so those interested are encouraged to book now. For all questions, bookings and information, go to the Ballet Workshops Australia website www.balletworkshopsaustralia.com or Facebook page.
BWA is an organisation of professional dancers, teachers and choreographers who conduct enrichment dance programs in regional towns of Australia, bringing opportunities to the local communities.
