AFL9s is a modified, non-contact version of the sport that involves a smaller field with nine players on each team.
It's a mixed competition that is open to both males and females aged 14 and up, with no knowledge of the game required to play.

Newly appointed Moree Suns AFL Club president Ashley Jones said they haven't got an official starting date for the competition as the planning gets finalised.
"We're looking at the end of January at this stage," Jones said.
"It's more than likely going to be that last Friday in January, but we're in the final stages of the planning process."
Jones said they're hoping to finalise everything within the next week or two, and from there teams will be able to register.
"We'll be open for registration until probably the second round of the competition," he said.
"Last year we had teams enter after the first round, we're just trying to keep it open so we can get as many teams as possible."
The competition is likely to run for around seven to eight weeks, depending on how many teams enter.
After being held at Ron Harborne Oval last year, the 2020 competition will be held at the Moree Services Club.
"They've signed on as our major sponsor and have allowed us access to the ground," Jones said.
Jones said the club is really looking forward to kicking off the competition.
"We've already had some positive feedback from people wanting to join and people who have wanted another 9s competition," he said.
He said the 9s competition is a great way to promote the club and hopefully increase numbers.
"We're hoping that once the competition starts, we'll get current players to come along and try and draw new players into the club and encourage people to come along to preseason training sessions," he said.
