The NSWRL, which merged with NSW Country Rugby League earlier this month, has a board meeting next week which will decide whether to grant Moree Boars a release from Group 19 to play in next season's Tooheys Group 4 competition.

Submissions from Moree Boars, Group 4 and Greater Northern Tigers have been forwarded to the NSWRL for their consideration.

Whether NSWRL allows the Boars to move back to Group 4 is unknown.

However it could be unlikely given the fact the NSWRL has said there will be no boundary changes for two years after its recent merger with the NSW CRL.

It has also knocked back other submissions from coastal clubs to change competitions in 2020.

Group 4 chairman Ray McCoy hopes the NSWRL allows Moree's move, especially as the Boars have indicated they will bring four grades - first, second, under-18s and ladies league tag - to Group 4.

"We are looking at restructuring and consolidating our first grade competition," Ray McCoy said.

"Moree have made a submission to us to bring four grades. It would be ideal and complete an eight-team first grade competition but it has to have NSWRL approval."

Moree are also a former Group 4 club and won back-to-back first grade premierships in the mid 1980s.

Group 4 have also forwarded submissions from Group 19 clubs Walcha Roos and Uralla Tigers who are also seeking releases from Group 19 to play in Group 4.
