December is here, which means it's time for Moree residents to deck their halls to get into the spirit of the most wonderful time of year.

In keeping with the festive spirit, Moree Plains Shire Council has once again partnered with the Moree Thumbs Up Thumbs Down Facebook page for the annual Moree Christmas Light Competition.

Moree Plains Shire Council is this year donating Love Local Moree gift cards to the winners, with a $200 gift card for first prize, $150 for second and $50 for third place.

Last year there was plenty of tough competition with some impressive light displays, so residents are encouraged to step up their game this year if they would like to be in with a chance to win a gift card, which can be spent at more than 100 local stores.

Entries are now open for the 2019 competition, with residents given until 6pm on Monday, December 16 to put up their lights and submit a photo of their Christmas display.

To enter, residents must submit a photo of this year's Christmas display to Thumbs Up Thumbs Down group admin Tanya Fitch via inbox/messenger or email to anl001@msn.com by December 16.

All entries must reside within the Moree Plains Shire and be submitted by the owner or with the owner's permission. One entry per address/residence and one entry photo are to be submitted.

Voting will then open on the Moree Thumbs Up Thumbs Down Facebook page on Wednesday, December 18 and members of the group can vote for their favourite display up until Tuesday, December 31.

The winners, to be announced in the new year, will be determined by the highest number of votes on the poll.
