The Weengallon Pink Ladies Day event raises funds for cancer charities and the Breast and Prostate Cancer Association of Australia. A cancer survivor herself, Emma lobbied to get Breast Care Nurses in St George and Goondiwindi.
The Community Hero Award acknowledges individuals making a significant contribution at a local level in Queensland. There are many selfless people who, through their actions, have positively impacted the lives of others and their community. It acknowledges everyday people doing extraordinary things. Community heroes may be involved in any aspect of the community and may have displayed courage in overcoming a personal adversity or demonstrated leadership in trying times.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner on Friday, November 29.
