When Sounds from the Borderline takes to the stage at Goondiwindi next week, James Reyne believes it will be his first time playing in the Queensland country town. But he can't be sure.

"I've been to Goondiwindi a few times, it might be the first time playing there, but someone will go 'no you played at the pub in 1981' but from memory it's the first time, certainly playing an outdoors show there."
After more than 40 years in the music business it's no surprise Reyne can't remember every gig and every town.
After seven years as lead singer of Australian Crawl, the rock legend forged a solo career that has lasted another three decades, and when he takes to the stage in Goondiwindi, Reyne said it will be the hits from his career that fans will hear.
"Everyone will know every song, it will be Crawl stuff, it will be some of my solo stuff. It's what works, people like to hear it and they sing along and get excited, so that's what we do. Give the customer what they want," he said.
So does that include Way Out West, the song which won Reyne a Golden Guitar when he recorded it as a duet with James Blundell in the early 90s?
"We'll certainly play Way Out West at Goondiwindi, we'd be crazy not to."
He has been working on new songs, and a new release - his ninth studio album as a solo artist. "I've got 12 to 15 songs (I've written), but it will probably end up being 10 songs on the record, but it's good to go in with more than you end up with."
In its inaugural year, Sounds from the Borderline will present a massive line-up of Australia's most iconic artists to the Goondiwindi Showgrounds on Saturday, October 26.
Alongside Reyne, the line-up features Diesel, Shannon Noll, Moving Pictures, Bachelor Girl and Colt Seavers Band.
These days Reyne says he is singing and writing better than he ever has.
"Whether you're singing or songwriting, it's a craft, and I've just done it longer now," the veteran performer said.
"The first record I ever sang on was the first time I'd been in the studio, so I didn't know what I was doing, just yelling in tune basically.
"I've now been doing it for 40 years, done a lot of recording, played a lot of gigs in that time and written a lot of songs, so if you practice your craft, no matter what you do, you only get better."
