Three local groups receive financial assistance from Moree Plains Shire Council's Unallocated Community Funding Budget

Three local groups in Moree have received funding from Moree Plains Shire Council following its ordinary council meeting on Thursday.

The Isolated Children's Parent's Association (ICPA) of NSW Moree Branch, GTK Crossfit and the Moree Cultural Art Foundation have all been boosted by financial assistance from the Unallocated Community Funding Budget.

The ICPA has received $3,000 to host the NSW ICPA conference in March 2020, which will discuss issues that are affecting children outside of Sydney being educated.

GTK Crossfit received $2,000 to assist with the purchase of equipment to host the Third Annual Teams Throwdown Competition.

The last lot of funding went to Moree Cultural Art Foundation who were given $1,000 to facilitate the Moree Portrait Prize.

"It's wonderful that we're able to facilitate all our applications this time around," Moree mayor Katrina Humphries said.

Also discussed at Thursday's meeting was an investigation into drought relief initiatives.

General manager Lester Rodgers will look into obtaining financial assistance into a form of drought relief, with his findings to be brought back to council at a future meeting.

"It'll be something that's for all the community," councillor Kerry Cassells said.

"It could be a concert, some kind of festival. We're just going to investigate and see what we can do."
