It was a challenging day up against some stiff competition, but seven students qualified to move onto the state championships that are to be held in Sydney on November 6 to 7.
Harriet Beattie, Darcy Brazel, Mana and Chaz Noble, Mitchell Beddoes, David Odero and Shyanne Roberts are all moving on to the state championships.
They will be a part of the North West team representing the region.

Mana Noble competed in the long jump, discus and shot put, and finished first in discus, throwing 26.4 metres and breaking his own Heferen Shield discus record of 24.68 metres. He also broke his Heferen Shield record in shot put, improving from 7.8 metres to 8.62 metres.
Chaz Noble was competing in his third regional athletics carnival, and had a busy day, competing in discus, long jump, 100 metres, 200 metres, shot put and 4 x 100 metres relay.
He came first in the discus, throwing 26.41 metres and threw for 8.67 metres in the shot put, both personal bests.
Chaz and Mana's brother Lakia also competed in his first regional athletics carnival, finishing seventh in his 100 metres and also taking part in the 4 x 100 metres relay.
David Odaro won his 100 metres heat and finished second in his final.
The seven representing students who will compete at state are:
- Harriet Beattie in Discus
- Darcy Brazel in 200m and Long Jump
- Mana Noble in Discus
- Mitchell Beddoes in 200m
- David Odero in 100m
- Chaz Noble in Discus and Shot Put
- Shyanne Roberts in Shot Put.
