Jesse competed in the 100m, 200m, 800m and the discus events, but it was the long jump where he truly shined.
The Moree Secondary College (MSC) student set the NSW CHS Sports Association long jump record for athletes with cerebral palsy in the F38 class in the 12 to 15 years age group.
"Nobody previously for the 12 to 15 age group has competed with cerebral palsy in long jump," Jesse's mum Kelly James said.
"They were pretty impressed with what he was doing even though he does have cerebral palsy."
Additionally, Jesse also stood out in the 800m event, beating his personal best time by 18 seconds.
"He's pretty happy with his 800m, and he slowed down at the end," Kelly said.
"He ended up with a sore leg, but he kept going. He slowed down and still managed to beat it by 18 seconds."
Jesse wasn't the only Moree athlete to make the trip down to Sydney Olympic Park for the CHS Athletics Championships, with MSC's Amy Egan competing in the 100m.
She competed in the 17 years girls age group, and finished ninth in her heat.
Both Jesse and Amy are part of Moree Little Athletics, who now have more than 70 athletes registered.
