2.15pm: Essential Energy said 3500 customers had their power supply restored by 2.15pm, but there were still 2500 customers without power.
It is expected to be restored by 3pm.
1.45pm: The power was returned to some parts of town at about 1.45pm on Thursday, while other areas remain down.
1.10pm: Moree residents have been left in the dark, as strong winds caused a power outage on Thursday afternoon.

Approximately 6000 customers have been affected by the unplanned interruption, according to Essential Energy.
There are reports the power outage stretched as far down as Narrabri, and east to Pallamallawa.
Essential Energy staff have been dispatched to fix the outage, and are hoping to have the power back on by 3.30pm.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience," Essential Energy wrote in a post to its Facebook page.
Gusty winds were expected to reach up to 40 kilometres per hour on Thursday.
