She has only gotten better as the year has gone on, smashing her entry time that she achieved at the NSW PSSA championships and personal best by 1.3 seconds to qualify in fourth place for the finals at the Australian championships.
In finals, Macey once again beat her personal best, taking off a further 0.68 seconds to earn a fourth place finish in the 12 years girls 50 metre breaststroke.
She was just millimetres away from a third place finish and a bronze medal, finishing just 0.04 seconds behind.
Swimming coach Angela Walker was very proud of Macey's achievements after a lot of hard work and training.
She trains five mornings a week, and this was the first time she was selected in the NSW team to take part in the national competition.
"Ava's dedication and hard work have paid off as she is now the fourth fastest 12-year-old 50 metre breaststroker in Australia," Walker said.
"It's a very proud coaching moment."
"Moree has not had a swimmer of this standard representing for a very long time," Walker said.
"Ava will now have a well deserved rest for a month or two before commencing the summer season.
"She is inspired to train even harder now and go one better next year."
