Bev Burton from the Quilters group made the trek to the area to see first-hand the parched land due to the drought and also visit family. During her visit, she met with the Weemelah CWA president Dawn Toohey and presented the quilts to the branch.
The Corner Quilters would like the branch to use the quilts as they see fit to raise funds to assist with the drought, or donate to sick community members, or someone else in need. This group have been quilting for more than 15 years, donating many of the quilts to charities or sick people, especially children suffering from cancer.

Mrs Toohey was in awe of the work this group have done and continue to do, and finds it hard to comprehend the generosity from such a wonderful group of ladies.
"The branch will be discussing the donation of the quilts at an upcoming meeting, but we certainly intend to raffle a few of the quilts at our annual spring lunch being held on Sunday, September 8 commencing at 12 noon at the Weemelah Hall," she said.
The Coonabarabran Branch of the CWA have in the past received beautifully hand made quilts from the Corner Quilters.
