The Boars have submitted a request of $200,000 from the My Community Project grants program, with the recipients selected based on public votes.

In April 2018, the Boars began to sell game seats that would be attached to the new facility, which would give buyers free entry to all Boars home games and have their name printed on the back of the seat.

There are a total of 42 projects in the running for funding, including 12 from the Moree Plains Shire, but Moree Boars president Todd Mitchell is hoping the club can secure their request so the project can finally start to move forward.

"This has been going on for about six years," Mitchell said.

"We've been trying to get some grants but keep coming up empty.

"We've put it on our website and Facebook page, asking people to vote.

"Preferably if they can vote for our project, but more so Moree projects. We'd like to think they've vote for ours."

If successful, Mitchell said the funding won't quite be enough to finish the project, but it should be enough to get a concrete slab down and the building up.

"We'll probably need another $200,000 to finish but it will certainly put a big hole in it," he said.
