There are around 270 senior league tag players registered to play from 13 clubs.
The Group have taken the first step in narrowing down who will don the purple and blue by naming 42 women who will face off in a possibles and probables clash in Glen Innes next Wednesday.
The squad will then be narrowed down to the final team who will contest the championships.
Uralla and Armidale boast the highest number of players nominated to trial with six while Tingha have five.
The championships are set down for Friday, July 5 in Tamworth.
