After a disappointing loss at home to the Glen Innes Magpies in round five, they were hoping to bounce back after the bye but the Eels proved too good in a 34-26 win.
The Eels are a much improved outfit from the one who were beaten easily by the Boomerangs back in round two, this their second win in a row after a resounding 38-10 win over the previously unbeaten Magpies last week.
It was a back-and-forth affair, the Eels grabbing the lead early before Boomerangs clawed their way back, going into the break down 18-14.
Again, the Eels came out strong in the second half before Boomerangs came back, with just 10 points in it with 15 minutes remaining.
Ultimately, it wasn't enough as the Boomerangs went down 34-26.
Boomerangs coach Chris Binge said the better side won on the day but he could still take positives away from the game.
"We weren't bad. We were really good I thought," he said.
"There were patches in that game that didn't really favour us, we could've executed things better."
Binge said it's been particularly pleasing to see a large amount of juniors stepping up in recent weeks.
"I've blooded five under-18s in first grade in the last two weeks," he said.
"I can guarantee at the back end of the season that will be very fruitful.
Binge said a few injuries as well as a suspension to halfback Will Fernando has meant the side has struggled for some consistency in recent weeks.
"It's been a testing couple of weeks for our depth," he said.
"It's not at a level where we're able to be more than competitive. We know that things need to be better.
"We're probably more enthused we've got five of our kids who have put their hand up.
"That was Narwan's full strength side. We know that if we can have our full contingent of first graders week in week out, which is what we've been struggling with the last few weeks, we'll get consistency at a point where we're able to produce the results on the weekend."
Binge singled out Tyrell Smith and Tristan Duncan-Ward as some of his side's best on the day, as well as Dwayne Smith.
"He played a full game in 18s and played a full game at halfback for us," Binge said.
"He's quite good and definitely shown the ability to play at that level."
In the other matches, the Eels won reserve grade 54-16 while the Boomerangs got up in league tag 24-4.
The Boomerangs were also able to field an under-18s side for the first time this season, and while they went down 28-22 to the Tingha Tigers, Binge said it was "probably the most pleasing thing moving forward" to have a registered team and some extra depth at the club.
The Boomerangs will now prepare to face the Boars at Boughton Oval in the second local derby of the season, with all games to be played under lights.
The Boomerangs won all three matches last time the two sides faced off, and Binge is confident they can get the job done again.
"We had a massively good [training] session last night. I'm very impressed with the boys attitude," Binge said.
"We're very confident we're going to be able to field a very good squad going into this game."
League tag will kick off at 4.30pm, followed by under-18s at 5.30pm and A-grade at 6.45pm.
