About 120 children and their families attended the open day and had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a fire truck, spray a fire hose and have a tour of the fire station.
The Moree station was one of hundreds across the state to open its doors on Saturday, as part of Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW)'s annual open day.
"The day is all about education," Moree retained firefighter Chris Poole said.
"It helps parents and kids understand what we do and gives them more of an idea of how it all works. It also helps them become more fire ready."
It was a busy day for our local firies, with all 100 goodie bags - featuring activity books, lego, wooden spoons and even red plastic helmets - going quickly.
"We ran out of those pretty quick," Mr Poole said.
Getting to play in the fire truck and spray the fire hose were highlights for the children who had a great time pretending to be firefighters for a day, with many now considering firefighting as a future career path.
"I think every seven-year-old kid wants to be a firefighter," Mr Poole said.
And, as much as the children enjoyed the day, it was a great chance for the firies to also have some fun.
"We have just as much fun as the kids do," Mr Poole laughed.
"We often put our hands up to do it. It's a good balance from all the nasty stuff we do."
