SHAE Acadmey and The Salvation Army are hosting a fundraiser sportsman's dinner next week to raise money for the Red Shield Appeal, with rugby league legend and current Fox Sports NRL commentator Steve 'Blocker' Roach the guest speaker.

"It was a bit of a joint effort between myself and JP (Moree Salvation Army program manager Jason Poutawa) from Salvos," SHAE Academy CEO Chris Binge said.

"I've had a little bit to do with Blocka over the years and me and JP had a bit of a thought of doing something that could bring something to town in relation to a fundraiser for the Red Shield Appeal."

Roach will be on hand to to discuss his career, his thoughts on the game of rugby league today and share a few stories from his playing days representing Balmain Tigers, NSW and Australia.

"He'll have a lot of fun. I've been with Blocka a couple of times when he's done these kinds of things. It's bloody hilarious, he can definitely spin a yarn," Binge said.
