Montgomery was one of six Central North representatives to be selected in the squad of 23 players.
His Central North coach Warren Park was extremely impressed with what he saw at the Country Championships.
"He's a really naturally gifted athlete," Park said.
"He was a standout in all the games he played, with his abilities to run the ball, find some space and make some good metres down the field."

When Park was asked what his biggest strength as a player was, it was a very simple answer.
"To identify space and accelerate through it.
"Another outstanding attribute is his ability in defence. He reads it perfectly and he's very dominant every time he makes a tackle."
His Moree under-14s coach Damien McCormick has only seen him play a couple of times but was quite impressed.
"There's definitely no question he's a good player. He's probably showing a bit more with better opposition and better teammates," McCormick said.
From here, Montgomery and the Country side will participate in a number of camps and training sessions.
"It will culminate in playing a game against the City side which is selected around state championships," Park said.
"He's a great humble kid and we wish him well."
Additionally, five Moree players represented Central North in the under-12s competition.
Darcy Brazel, Gilbert Tighe, Flynn Kirkby, Ben DiDonna and Max Fernace all played in the side that also finished runners-up, with Brazel winning the coaches award and DiDonna picking up the most improved.
