The Moree Junior Rugby Union Club is committed to fielding an under 14s team in the Central North Junior Rugby Union competition, however with only six players registered to date, it's looking increasingly likely it won't happen.

Now, with about half of the core group of players moving up out of that age group, it's become an even more difficult situation.
Under 14s coach Damien McCormick said they're trying to push school teachers to get more children interested.
"We've got a few target kids to get a hold of and show them some interest that teachers are working on. Outside of that, there's not a whole lot we can do," he said.
"We're keen to get it going and we're keen to build the comp. This is just the first stage to get the 14s going, then the 16s, then the 17s and progress through the age groups."

McCormick said there are players that have shown interest but getting them to actually register has been the problem.
"They do have to register. It's $100 but they get shorts and socks and free bus travel," he said.
"If they haven't used up their get active (Active Kids) voucher, they can use that to register as well."
The club tries to keep the bus trips no longer than an hour and a half.
McCormick said they will probably need to make a call by next week, and if they can't get the numbers required they will most likely have to join up with Narrabri to still give the current registered players a chance to play.
