Hosted by Moree Water Ski Club, the Moree Easter Pro Night Ski spectacular is set to showcase the eight top-ranked skiers in Australia, taking advantage of the fact that they're all in Moree this Easter long weekend for the 2019 Nautilus Marine Insurance Australian Water Ski Championships.
"We wanted to put on a bit of a spectacle for the town to showcase waterskiing and showcase the park," Moree Water Ski Club events and tournament coordinator Angus Croft said.
"The idea is for the community to come out and watch and enjoy the talent that's in town."
Included among the skiers are Australia's top two women, the five best open men and an over 35s man.
Two are world champions and four are Australian record holders.
"These are highly ranked skiers," Croft said.
The trick skiers will take part in a flip-off, which involves doing as many flips as they can in 20 seconds.
"It's pretty impressive to watch; these guys can do up to 10/11 flips in 20 seconds," Croft said.
"They're very quick."
Meanwhile, the slalom skiers will go head-to-head with two boats in the water at a time in a shoot-out event. The loser of each shoot-out will be knocked out until one is left standing.
Fireworks will cap off the skiing spectacular, which Croft said will be a great night of entertainment for the whole family.
There will also be a barbecue and full bar. Entry is $5 or $20 for a family.
The event will be held at Moree Water Park from 6pm to 10pm on Easter Sunday, April 21.
