The club is hunting their third title in a row after Moree 1 defeated Narrabri FC for the second year running in last year's grand final.
Moree 1 took on Narrabri Crossroads 11 in Narrabri and proved too strong with a 3-1 victory, while Moree 2 enjoyed a 4-0 win over Wee Waa United.
With the teams only being finalised last week, it was the first chance for coaches Darrel Smith and Matthew Urquhart to get a proper look at their respective sides.
The two teams have largely kept their core players together with a few changes and a number of new additions.
Moree 1 coach Smith was happy with his side's efforts, despite there being a few kinks to work through.
"It was a fairly scrappy game, just playing out some cobwebs and trying to get settled on our combinations," he said.
Moree opened the scoring about 15 minutes in and Alex Madden then made it 2-0 after half an hour, taking advantage of a rebound off the goal keeper.
Narrabri then scored just before the half time to make it 2-1 at the break, before Moree came out stronger in the second half, Smith scoring the lone goal to give them a 3-1 win.
"We could've had a lot more scoring opportunities but our final pass just went astray," Smith said.
"We had to do a little bit of defending just on counter attacks, but once we fixed up our passing in the second half, we didn't have to do much defending."
Smith said the team just has to work on its passing more, making sure they're hitting targets when they have the ball, but overall he was happy to come away with the win in their first game of the year.
Moree 2 coach Urquhart was particularly pleased with how his side played in their win over Wee Waa, especially given they had limited training time together.
"It was fantastic. The boys played rather well together for a team that hadn't trained much together this season or at all," he said.
"They played like they've been playing half the season together already. They never really looked like they weren't in control."

Urquhart said there were times when decision making under pressure suffered a little, but was overall thrilled with his side's performance.
"There were some moments where they would panic a little bit and just got rid of the ball," he said.
"But those moments were few and far between, I daresay I shouldn't have much to work on."
Urquhart made special mention of Izayah Swan who played his first and of soccer and scored the side's first goal as well as new addition Bailey Bourke, who will add some firepower in attack.
"He's able to put the ball in the back of the net which is something that has eluded us for a while," he said.
The club will host its first double header this weekend on Saturday, April 6 at with Moree 2 hosting Narrabri Crossroads 11 at 1pm before Moree 1 plays Narrabri FC in a grand final rematch at 3pm.
