This was the third such event Moree has run that has doubled as nationals qualifying and just a standard local competition.
"The whole idea is to get new people into competitive skiing," Moree Water Ski Club events coordinator Angus Croft said.
"It's very laid back, low key environment, teaching people about competitive water skiing."
Around 20 skiers from Moree, Narrabri, Wee Waa, Inverell, Goondiwindi and Dubbo took to the water on a windy day.

"Most of those skiers are those in the beginner division which is good," Croft said.
"That's what we're chasing, it tends to be the most competitive division."
"If people want to give it a go, there's a lot of other people giving it a go for the first time."
Jarrod Wall took out division six, Brendan Griffiths won division four, Will Mann was best in division two and was also good enough to qualify for nationals, while Croft won division one.
Croft said there was around five local skiers that ran on the day that have all qualified for nationals.
Moree will also be hosting the National Waterskiing Championships over the Easter weekend in April, with the state titles to be held the week before.
