Northern Nations is an Indigenous football side from north west NSW and will be running clinics will for both boys and girls, beginning in Moree and then spreading elsewhere across the region.
"Part of the overall plan is to develop younger Aboriginal children to take up soccer as a sport," Northern Nations men's coach Darrel Smith said.
"We want to run clinics and Moree is going to be the first clinic.
"We've formed a partnership with SHAE Academy and Moree junior soccer to identify young players and hold skills clinics."
Smith said around five Northern Nations members, including players and coaches will be helping out on the day, with a number of people from the Moree Services FC also attending.
He's hoping to have around 20 to 30 young players attend the clinics.
The aim is to find talented football players and try to develop their skills and provide them with further opportunities in the sport.
"We've been in talks with the Newcastle Jets so that if we can identify some talented young Aboriginal players, we can refer them down to them to see if they can get into their development squads," Smith said.
Smith and the Northern Nations have also developed a partnership with Northern Inland Football so they can broaden their search for potential players.
"We're getting those connections around so that any young Aboriginal players in the region, we can have a look at and hopefully we can develop them up into professional football players," Smith said.
Smith said the Northern Nations side has been very successful, with around five of its players having been selected in a national Indigenous squad, including Moree's Kenny Wright.
The clinics will run on March 15 and 16, from approximately 10am to 3pm.
