Jim is now able to take passengers for a ride, and the first will be his father David.
He has returned to university at Newcastle to enter his second year of the Architecture course and he will begin his Navigation course at Easter during the term break.
He completed his first solo flight on January 17 and has completed the goal he made at the time to obtain his certificate before he returned to university.
“Jim applies himself exceptionally well to the pilot role. He will excel at the Navigation side of it," chief flying instructor Fred Nolan said.
"During the six week period between late December and early February, Jim experienced some of the worse flying weather with high temperatures, strong winds and turbulence.
"It is a credit to him to cope with these extreme conditions and is a better pilot because of it”.
