Thanks to $110,000 in state government funding, the male toilets at the showground's main amenities will be replaced and a brand new block will be built.
“The Showground and Racecourse is a major community hub for the people of Mungindi, bringing them together for major events, including the annual show, thoroughbred races and other sporting events,” Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said.
“The existing amenities are old and failing, costing the showground users lots of money in maintenance but also causing inconvenience to people using them.
“It is really important to the community to provide upgrade amenities here to ensure people have a great day out at the show or the races.
“I’m excited about this funding and the difference it will make in the Mungindi community.”
Mungindi Show Society president Sacey Garsed will be pleased to see their facilities be adequate for the annual show and all other events at the showground.
“Some of our toilet facilities are quite run down and really not up to standard,” Ms Garsed said.
“The show has really thrived over the past few years and to have facilities that are modern and comfortable is really something that we could be proud of.
“It’s good to just be able to keep up with everyone else as far as standards go. The toilets were leaking and they flood, so it’s great to be able to put on a great show like we do know the facilities are up to scratch.”
