Maria Hippi Memorial Tigers won the competition, defeating Bruce Binge Memorial 44-4 in the final.
Moree Boomerangs coach Chris Binge who also coached Bruce Binge Memorial was proud of his team’s efforts but said the football was the second most important part of the day.
“It was a bunch of guys coming together for a good cause and to get some good messages out there,” he said.
“In relation to Bruce, everyone knows he's a young man that took his life, as hard as what that was it was about getting the message out and talking about those bigger issues, health and wellbeing, mental health.
“Having people talk to each other, making sure everyone is okay.”
Bruce Binge Memorial went up against Moree Boars captain coach Stan Swan’s Dallas Green Memorial in the semi final in a closely fought contest, with Bruce Binge Memorial winning 14-10.
“They jumped away to a good lead and we fought back hard,” Binge said.
“They played really well, any team with Stan and those lads in the squad will always make it difficult.
“We were happy to get the win, we're a team just like them chucked together on the day, people coming together, either family or people associated with who we were playing for.
“The football was a great game. it was physical, played in the right spirit.”
Swan reiterated Binge’s comments, saying the main focus was on mental health awareness and was also extremely proud of his team's efforts.
“The team was pretty happy with it, I was pretty stoked about the way we played out there.”
Binge said his side just came up against a really strong opponent in the final but was extremely proud of their remarkable achievement to make it that far.
“All credit to the other team we played, they played some great footy. We were playing catch up from the start,” he said.
“Overall, happy with the day and happy with the efforts. Football was the winner in the end.”
