February 13 marks the 11th anniversary since Kevin Rudd delivered his National Apology to Australia’s indigenous peoples, particularly the Stolen Generations.
Each year, Pius X hosts an event to celebrate the 2008 government’s recognition of the pain and suffering caused to the Stolen Generations and their descendents.

This year’s event will get underway at 10am in Pius’ Maaruma-li Walaay-ba Sorry Garden.
The guest speaker will be Tony Slater from the Department of Housing, while Marion Nelio will do the Welcome to Country. Following the speeches, the Apology will be played before a flag raising ceremony is conducted by Bruce Copeland.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to decorate a square of fabric, which will be used to make a quilt.
Everyone is then welcome to stay and enjoy some light refreshments for morning tea.
