Rhys Smith, Tristan Duncan-Ward, Tyrell Smith, Jade Porter, Sam Barker, Keenan Duncan, DeWayne Nicholls and Zeke Dennis are among those selected to represent Group 19 as they face off in two matches against Group 4 and Group 21 this weekend.
Boomerangs coach Chris Binge, who was also selected to coach the Group 19 side, is thrilled to see so many of his club’s players get this representative opportunity.
“I think everyone that’s been selected in the team to rep this weekend obviously deserves their spot,” he said.
“They’re a good bunch of young blokes. They work hard, they reap the rewards.”
Binge’s main focus is trying to help his players rise through the ranks and earn more representative honours.
“All going to plan this weekend they can progress themselves through the rep scenes and hopefully don on a Northern Division jumper,” he said.
“We were lucky last year, out of the Group 19, I think we had three or four players represent last year and then we had one player (Brett Wright) make Northern Division and he went on to make NSW Country.
“If one of these guys can follow those footsteps I think we’ll be standing in pretty good stead from a club point of view.”
Binge says the side has been training well and is confident of some good results this weekend.
“We’ve had good commitment from these kids,” he said.
“Hopefully after this weekend that’s going to pay off for them as well.
“We've got one more session and if it can be as good as what the last ones have been, I'm pretty confident in the ability of the team we've got to get some good results coming into the weekend's rep games.”
Binge is confident in his Boomerangs players that they can perform well and continue their rise.
“Out of the eight guys selected, I’m pretty confident that we’ll get maybe two or three into the Northern Division team,” he said.
“If that happens, all good for the club and all good for these guys.”
