Moree Milk Stallions have defended their title to claim the Moree and District Cricket Association 2018 A grade grand final after a close 16-run victory against the Rangs on Saturday.

The Stallions batted first and totalled 187 runs from 33 overs.
Best with the bat was Heath Riggs with 58 runs, while Tom Ryan made 42 and Alf Newman contributed 21 to the Stallions’ score.
Jack Montgomery was the Rangs’ best bowler, taking four wickets from 38.
Chris Sim, Ed Montgomery and James Smith took two wickets each for the Rangs.

The Rangs then chased and got two for 100 thanks to a great partnership between opening batsmen Jack Montgomery and Jason Poutawa.
Montgomery was the Rangs’ best batsman with a total of 49 runs, while Poutawa scored 25. Darrell Smith and James Smith also contributed to the score with 24 runs each, however it wasn’t enough for the Rangs who were all out for 171.
Harry Woods 2/11 and Beau McMahon 2/25 were the Stallions’ best bowlers, while Alf Newman, Daniel Brown, Kyle O’Connor, and Zac Hauser took a wicket each.
Moree and District Cricket Association president Glen Holland said it was a very close game between the two top teams.
“They were the two teams that deserved to be in there,” he said.
In the B grade grand final, Vic Vikings 163 defeated Moree Golf Club 137.
Golf Club batted first and reached 137 in 33 overs, with Josh Boland scoring 40 runs, Tom Britton putting 26 on the board and Nick Fisher making 23.
Vic Vikings’ Wyatt Roberts proved too good with the ball, taking 5/6 wickets while Norman Duke took 3/29.
The Vikings responded with a 163 runs from 30 overs to claim the win.
Shaun Mills was their top batsman scoring 37 runs, while Nick Marshall 31 and Aaron Annis-Brown 28 helped guide the Vikings home.
Wickets for the Golf Club went to Garth Tapping 4/45 and Tom Britton 3/25.
