International Men’s Day is celebrated worldwide on November 19 and aims to promote the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities, as well as highlighting positive role models and raising awareness of men’s well-being.

To celebrate the day, Moree service providers and organisations are hosting a men’s gathering at Moree Sport Health Arts and Education Academy, in Anne Street, at 10am on Monday, November 19.

The day will provide a venue for the men of Moree to share and gather information about the issues that concern them, with a focus on male medical conditions faced by local men.

As part of the theme for this year’s International Men’s Day, ‘Positive Male Role Models’, attendees are encouraged to bring along their male staff and clients to participate in the celebration.

Former NRL player Nathan Blacklock will be the special guest at the event, and will speak about overcoming his own mental health issues.

The event will include activities and stalls for men to gather information on issues they or their family may face.

“We are hoping that people will be able to use this event, to build rapport with other organisations and other men within the Moree community, learn about what issues and medical conditions are facing Moree men and what services are available to help them with these issues,” one of the organisers Glen Crump said.

The gathering will start at 10am and will finish approximately 3pm. Lunch, water and other light refreshments will be provided during the day.
