And as a platform to ensure the ongoing sustainability of our community, the Moree Secondary College is by far our greatest asset.
In recent months the Moree Secondary College P&C has been working on a communications strategy celebrating the local high school, aimed at promoting and showcasing MSC and the success of its alumni.
But with the community losing a large number of students to boarding school or families relocating for education, Moree Secondary College P&C president Kelly James, said the campaign was two-fold.
“We have an amazing educational option right here on our door-step, but there are many in the community who are totally unaware of the strength of MSC, the facilities and opportunities offered, and the high calibre of students and teaching staff,” Mrs James said.
“This campaign is about giving students and staff a well-deserved pat on the back, but also encouraging the community to come and have a look at MSC, promoting the fact that there is an extremely viable education option right here in Moree.”
The campaign will culminate in a film produced by local filmmakers, Rabbit Hop Films, to be launched late this month during a special event at the MSC Albert St Campus.
MSC P&C’s Janelle Montgomery said she was thrilled with the video, which features a number of students, past and present.
“It’s a fantastic reflection on the students and the school, and what can be achieved here in regional Australia.”
“Our long-term goal is to ensure a thriving secondary college, supported by the community, well into the future.”
“A strong local high school also safeguards the future of our community, encouraging local youth and skill are retained within the region.”
Mrs Montgomery thanked Moree Plains Shire Council and Moree Secondary College, which also provided funding for the campaign.
“This is a video that the whole community can be proud of, as is our local high school.”
The film will be launched on Tuesday, October 30 at 5pm at the MSC Albert Campus.
With the event opened to the public, Mrs James encouraged all community members to attend, with tours of the school facilities to run during the event.
