Hosted by the Moree Boxing Academy, the highly-anticipated fight night will be held at the services club this Saturday evening.
Fresh off their wins in Gunnedah, Moree’s Connor Williams and Zac Crouch will be two of many local fighters stepping in the ring.
Coach Danny Cheetham said all local fighters have been travelling around the state taking on more experienced fighters to up their match fitness to ensure they are “rock hard”.
“We really want the townspeople to come out and support what we are trying to do here at the Moree Boxing Academy.
“People can look forward to some action-packed bouts and an intimate atmosphere at the smaller venue of the services club, where there is not a bad seat in the house,” Cheetham laughed.
Ring card girls, auctions, a performance from Murray Hartin and three hours of boxing entertainment are also on the cards.
Cheetham said there would be plenty of opportunities to snatch some great sporting memorabilia during the auction.
The main fight of the night will be between Moree’s Cody Moore and Inverell’s Josh Desborough competing for a North West title.
Another bout causing a tremendous amount of interest is the celebrity exhibition bout between Stanley Swan and Jimmy Bryans.
“Stanley is the captain and hooker of the Moree Boars and Jimmy is a former champion jockey and well-known local identity.
“They’ll do an exhibition bout over three one-minute rounds. It should be very entertaining to watch,” Cheetham said.
Hoping for around 12 bouts on the program, Cheetham said local boxers have been training daily in preparation for the night.
“We called it Boxing is back in the Big M because we’re really building towards getting competitive boxing back on track in the town.”
Tickets are on sale at the Moree and District Services Club office for only $50.
“All money raised will go towards the boxing academy so we can continue to give our youth a place to come, learn and grow both physically and emotionally.”
Don’t miss out on the action-packed evening boasting some of the biggest boxing names in the north west region.
