Around 200 ag-lovers dressed in stunning ball gowns and dapper suits for the annual Young Aggies’ Gold Rush Ball held among the stars outside Moree’s Town and Country Club.
Young Aggies president Fiona Norrie said the sold out event was a major success for all involved.
“We had sisters Jac and Stevie Drenkhahn set the mood during cocktail hour followed by local band Avenue for Troy who kicked it up a gear and set the dance floor off later on in the evening,” she said.
From all reviews ball-goers were on their best behaviour and enjoyed a night under the stars raising money for two fantastic causes.
Each year Young Aggies chose a “fairly local” charity to support and this year it was the Ronald McDonald House in Tamworth.
“We had a lot of people explain their personal experiences using the house and we were glad to be able to support them this year.
“With the auction, sponsorship and raffle we’re able to give $9,500 to the Ronald McDonald House,” she said.
The rest will be put towards the Young Aggies Rural Scholarship Fund; which includes a one-off bursary of $1,500 aimed at university students yet to complete work experience.
The scholarship fund encourages the student to ease the financial burden of work experience by heading to Moree.
“The experience also helps showcase all Moree has to offer in terms of our ag space. Highlighting the precision ag and engineering opportunities in the hopes students might make connections.
“It’s a way to attract and retain trained professionals to Moree,” she said.
Ms Norrie thanked all involved in this year’s Gold Rush Ball.
“Young Aggies is a networking and professional development group for people involved in the ag-sphere.
“We’re about fostering that next generation coming through the ag industry and trying to make the experience of being a new grad as enjoyable as possible.”
