This is the third time the local business has taken out their category at the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards.
Third generation owners Whitney and Ernest Lai said the recognition was meaningful to the pair.
“Earnest and I are the third generation to run this family business, we took over in 2017. To know we have continued running the business to a high standard is very special,” she said.
Whitney said Savour’s annual awards was the biggest Australian restaurant and catering event on the calendar for people in the industry.
”We’ve been finalists for several years running. On Monday night we were in Sydney for the awards. There were around six other finalists in our category.”
She acknowledged the win as a team effort, adding the success would not have been possible if not for their dedicated and professional staff.
“Ernest and I are passionate about our business and work hard daily. Quality of food and service is our number one priority and we couldn’t do it without our staff,” she said. The awards were judged by taste, presentation, service, cleanliness and customer feedback.
New Bo Wa will now advance as a finalist in the national award category for best Chinese restaurant.
“The national awards will be held again in Sydney on October 29. It would be a dream to win nationally.”
The pair will again travel to Sydney at the end of the month for the awards evening.
Whitney thanked their regular customers and the Moree community for continuing to support the local Chinese restaurant.
