“It’s a great day for anyone who wants to buy a fresh cake for the weekend or buy plants for their garden,” Moree Uniting Church counselor Jenny Pritchard said.
“People can socialise with their friends or pick up a book to read.”
The annual Spring markets will lift off at 8.30am at the Moree Uniting Church at 19 Frome Street on September 22.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
According to Ms Pritchard, the markets have been running for “many years,” and continue to be a staple of spring.
On top of plant, sewing and book stalls, there will be morning tea, a guessing competition and boomerang bags.
“The boomerang bags are something new,” Ms Pritchard said.
“They are handmade cloth bags made by the church ladies, and the reusable bags can be used for shopping.”
The money raised on the day will be funneled into Frontier Services. The agency of the Uniting Church provides chaplains and volunteers to remote parts of Australia to keep isolated people connected with the world.
“They visit properties, perform weddings and offer a listening ear for anyone who wants to have a talk,” Ms Pritchard said.
