Moree Plains Shire Council’s community development officer Roslyn Laws said the Connect Day is part of an early intervention strategy to help residents understand what services are available and where they can go for assistance.
“The day is community collaboration at its best,” she said.
“Residents have the opportunity to find out about the resources that are available; while the various agencies and services work together to showcase information.
“Often people come to these events because they aren’t sure where to get help or who they can discuss their issues with.
“Services and agencies also benefit as they interact with each other, introduce new staff and generally discuss community issues on a broad scale.”

The event is not funded, instead Moree Plains Shire Council, Moree Family Support, and New England Regional Sustainable Housing and Homelessness Program (NERSHH) have encouraged various services and agencies to provide a different aspect to add value to the event including interactive displays, entertainment, information stalls, as well as looking at supporting our farmers through donations to the CWA stall.
There will be face painting, drum beat, didge and dance, games for young and old, free haircuts, a barbeque and refreshments.
