Croppa Creek identities Dick and Pam O’Connor presented the school with a plaque which commemorates the opening of the first school building in April 1949.
The plaque, which now takes pride of place on the school’s administration building, originally the only classroom, was unveiled to students and staff on Thursday, August 30.

Croppa Creek Public School principal Michael Sky thanked Mr and Mrs O’Connor for the generous gift.
“Mr O’Connor, as a former principal of our school, has an amazing amount of knowledge about the history of the school that he was able to share with the community,” he said.
“Mrs O’Connor has a special connection as both an ex-teacher and the daughter of Mr Stephen 'Roy' Heferen, former member for Barwon, who played an important role in the foundation of the school.
“The original building is 98 years old and still stands strong. With the supports having been replaced last year to give the building a new lease of life, here is to hoping it has many more years to come.”
