Moree Plains businesses are encouraged to become involved in the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail following an announcement by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) that the Planning Approval has recently been granted to the construction of the Parkes to Narromine Inland Rail section.

“This is a really encouraging development for the Moree Plains community as it brings Inland Rail one step closer to our doorstep with the Narrabri to North Star section now scheduled to commence in the third or fourth quarter of 2019,” Moree Plains Shire Council’s mayor Katrina Humphries said.
Local industry briefings encouraging Moree Plains businesses to become involved in the Inland Rail project are scheduled to be held during the first and second quarter of 2019.

Cr Humphries highlighted Council’s continued recognition of the strategic importance of the Inland Rail to the ongoing prosperity of the Shire.
“The Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that has the potential to truly unleash the economic potential of the Moree Plains,” she said.
“Not only will the Inland Rail provide huge benefits to our producers once completed, but has the potential to open up new industries for the region, with Moree positioned to continue its importance as a transport and logistics hub for the north-west and gateway to the New England region,” said the Mayor.
Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and is expected to be operational in 2024-2025. It will provide unprecedented connection for regional Australia to domestic and international markets.
