About 50 people from throughout the district attended the luncheon, hosted by the Weemelah CWA.
Weemelah CWA secretary Libby McPhee said attendees were treated to a lovely lunch and some wonderful fellowship.
“This is an annual event which the branch looks forward to putting on, so that people have a reason to visit the sleepy village in the north of the state and shire,” she said.
“It’s just to do something for the community so they have a reason to get out into the country, get together and enjoy a chat.”

There was a multi draw raffle, lucky door prize and best dressed prizes galore.
The spring lunch also coincided with CWA Awareness Week, which runs from September 1 to 8, providing branches with the opportunity to acknowledge and raise awareness of their work in the community and give other women a taste of the fun and friendship enjoyed by members in their town.

“We used the lunch as a bit of a promotion, to bring people awareness of what the CWA does, so we had a discussion about that,” Ms McPhee said.
“Some of our older members talked about what it was like when they first joined and had to ride a horse to meetings.”
Ms McPhee said the spring lunch is an event not to be missed next year. The lunch is open to anyone in the district to attend.
