Although the grounds were wet and clouds loomed, hundreds of people flocked through the gates of Fairview to browse the variety of stalls on offer and enjoy a bite to eat while listening to the sounds of Moree’s bands and choir.
And while there weren’t as many children as usual due to other events on in town, Fairview Fete coordinator Joy Peachey said it was a top day.
“It was a huge success,” she said.
“We had a little bit of rain but nobody was deterred by it.
“All-in-all I was pretty pleased with the day.”

Mrs Peachey estimates the final fundraising figure to be in the vicinity of $12,000 which she said is “amazing”.
“We took $10,000 on the day but we’ve still go other donations to come in,” she said.
“Our takings were about the same as last year which is pretty amazing considering the economy with the drought, and the rain.”
The annual Fairview Fete is the retirement village’s major fundraiser for this year, with all funds to go towards the general day-to-day running expenses.
The next big fundraiser on Fairview’s calendar will be the biennial Fairview on Trawalla luncheon, set for March next year.
Mrs Peachey would like to thank the Moree community for their continuous support.
