Each party within the heavy vehicle transport supply chain has a duty, under the Law, to ensure the safety of their transport activities. The information session will outline the changes to the Chain of Responsibility and the impact on business and how a Safety Management System can help businesses effectively manage their operation’s safety risks.

Acting Director of Engineering Kylie Kerr explained the information sessions are aimed at haulage companies and heavy vehicle users, particularly farmers and agricultural related business, to help them understand their obligations to eliminate or minimise potential harm, loss or risk as outlined under the Law.
“If you are part of the supply chain, you need to make sure you are aware of your role and responsibilities before the changes will come into effect from 1 October.”
“The supply chain includes anyone who has control over the transport task not just the truck driver, including person or business that requests, packs, loads or schedules deliver of the goods, as well as the person or business that receives or unloads the goods.”
“Information sessions will help build your capacity to identify risks associated your business' transport activities and understand how safety management systems can assist you to manage that risk and comply with your obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law,” Mrs Kerr said.
The Chain of Responsibility information session is hosted by Moree Plains Shire Council and presented by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator at the Max Centre, Council Committee Room, Level 1, 30 Heber Street, Moree.
