Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the preschool would use the NSW Quality Learning Environments funding to replace the old carpet with new vinyl floor tiles.

“The new flooring throughout the preschool will great improve the look and functionality of the preschool’s learning spaces,” Mr Marshall said.

“The current carpet floor is prone to staining by dropped paint, play dough and food and is starting to fray and pull up in places.

“The new floor will be easy to keep clean and much safer for students and staff.”

Mr Marshall said Warialda was just one of 12 preschools across the electorate benefit from this round of funding to upgrade learning environments.

“These preschools are showing an ongoing commitment to ensuring children in the Northern Tablelands have access to top quality early childhood education, which, as the local member, makes me extremely proud,” he said.

“Warialda is a wonderful preschool with caring staff and is responding to the needs of the local community, filling almost every position it has available with local students.”

Last year, the preschool secured funding to expand and seal the onsite carpark to provide a safer off-street drop off and pick up point for students.

“I’m really pleased to see the preschool and Gwydir Shire Council is continuing its commitment to improving this important community asset.

“This reassures local parents that their children are having the best start to their educational journeys as possible.”

The Quality Learning Environments program was introduced in 2018 and is part of the NSW Government’s $332 million Start Strong Program which was introduced in 2016 and has been extended to 2021.
