There have been some early daffodils in flower.
Member Rod Hurtz gave a demonstration on how to separate dahlia bulbs and save them for the following season by storing in a plastic bag with sawdust and some soil and then keeping them in a cool dry place.
Plant them out in late September or October, lay flat in the ground and cover with soil – not too deep. Don’t overwater or the tubers will rot. Feed every two weeks with Seasol or watered-down liquid cow manure or potash.
