With a new date and a sit-down, three-course meal to be held under the stars on the tennis court at Moree Town and Country Club, this year’s Gold Rush Ball is expected to be the biggest and best yet.
“We wanted to step it up a little this year,” Young Aggies president Fiona Norrie said.
“We thought we’d take it up a level and offer a three-course sit-down meal.”
The Gold Rush Ball is the Young Aggies’ major fundraiser and this year, funds raised from the event will go towards the Young Aggies Rural Scholarship Fund and Ronald McDonald House Tamworth.

“We like to choose a charity that benefits the local community,” Ms Norrie said.
“Ronald McDonald House Tamworth is a good service, helping regional families with sick children who are needing to be in Tamworth for longer stays.”
The 2018 Gold Rush Ball is set for Saturday, September 22. The event will feature entertainment by Moree sisters Jac and Stevie Drenkhahn during cocktail hour, followed by local band Avenue for Troy who will have everyone up and dancing the night away after dinner.
There will also be an auction and raffle on the night, with plenty of great prizes donated by local businesses.
As well as raising money for two worthy causes, Ms Norrie said the ball is a great networking opportunity and encourages not only young agricultural professionals to come along, but also those of the older generation who can act as a mentor for those new to the industry.
“It really is just a fabulous night of fun and networking,” she said.
“We’re trying to encourage the typical young aggies crowd, but also that crowd that is maybe five or 10 years into their careers to come along.
“We want to foster that active networking between generations and give people a few familiar faces to lean on when they’re new to town and want to call on someone in their field who might be able to give them some advice.
“But don’t be scared off by the ‘Young Aggies’ title, we encourage anyone to come along – people don’t need to necessarily be young or work in agriculture to come along for a fun night and help raise money for two good causes.”

Cost is $120 for single tickets, or $1,100 for a table of 10 which includes complimentary drinks on arrival, canapes, a sit-down dinner and dessert. Dress is black tie.
