Both fighting for crucial points to pop on the ladder, the game was fiery and full of heart ending in a 30-all draw.
Boars president Mark McGrady said Moree played “pretty good football” early in the game giving them a 22-4 lead.
However, it wasn’t long before the Hawks clawed their way back, scoring some gutsy tries to even up the scoreboard.
McGrady said both sides missed a few conversions which turned out to be costly in the end.

“They missed a couple goals late in the second half and our boys missed about three as well,” he said.
With one point separating them, the Boars sit third on the ladder above the Inverell Hawks.
“We have a split round this week; we’ll sit out. The Boomerangs play away against Glen Innes so that’ll be a tough game.
“The week after we come back and play the Rangs in our last game before the finals,” McGrady said.
Meanwhile, the Boars were able to secure a fiery win in reserve grade with the final score a close 18-10.
The heated game led to a small conflict in the final minutes of the game; one McGrady described as “disappointing” but said the ref did well to control the game.
“There was a bit of a head explosion from a few players on both sides. There could be a few boys from both teams not playing finals footy, which ultimately could impact the competition results,” he said.
Inverell Hawks’ juniors skipped away with a tidy win over the Boars on Saturday, proud of their 36-14 win.
McGrady said Inverell’s juniors had improved well, especially considering a field goal made up the difference at their last clash up.
“Unfortunately, for them, they’ve left their run home a bit too late.”
Saturday showed McGrady, who also coaches league tag, what the girls need to focus on at training during these crucial last few rounds.
“It was another good game. We put a few tries on them in the first half but they fought back. The final score was 14-4,” he said.
With Inverell’s key player Codie Ryan copping a 10-minute sin binning prior to half time, the Boars were able to sneak a few more points on.
McGrady said Moree needed to work on their completion.
“Over the last few weeks we’ve struggled to play until the end. We’re much better then that and once we click, we can put points on anywhere,” he said.
McGrady said Jess Wager, Lena Smith, Tileah McGrady and Shai-Lee Smith played well, with Smith guiding the girls around the field.
