The round of bingo fell in line with NAIDOC Week, which kicked off on Monday in Moree with the opening march.

This year’s NAIDOC theme, “Because of her, we can” celebrates influential Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have made an impact in their community.

Moree Hospital held their own NAIDOC ceremony on Tuesday to recognise the hard work of their health staff and their wonderful contributions to Moree.

Tuesday night also marked the first time in around 20 years that the Mini Debutantes Ball was hosted in Moree.

NAIDOC activities will continue on Thursday with a Women’s Gathering at BAMM Garden at 10am, family day at Burt Jovanovich Oval at 10.30am and Murrioke singing competition at the Victoria Hotel at 7pm.

Celebrations will wind down on July 28 and bring to end the month-long NAIDOC activities.
