“It was an amazing day; it was incredible,” Ladies Day committee member Marguerite McCormick said.

Featuring a grazing table to die for, an exclusive bar, more than $12,000 in raffle prizes and entertainment by Jac Drenkhahn and Three Legged Pig Dogs who had the crowd up and dancing well into the night, the event was an outstanding success.

The highlight of the day was the auction of the special, pink Ladies Day jerseys following the first grade match which alone raised more than $26,000.

A total fundraising figure is yet to be finalised but Ms McCormick said it was their most successful event to date, already far exceeding last year’s efforts.

Funds raised from this year’s event will be split between Moree Rugby Union Club and the Oncology Unit at Moree Hospital.

“The girls did an outstanding job – I cannot say enough amazing things about those beautiful women,” he said.

“I’ve heard nothing but positive responses about how great it was.

“The ‘98 premiership side had a reunion there and they all had a great day.”

With an estimated crowd of about 1,500 all up, King said overall it was an amazingly positive day for the club and the town.

“The support we got from the community is just incredible; the Moree community really digs in, and in the middle of a drought too,” he said.

And although the day was more about celebrating the better halves than the halfbacks, the action on the field also provided something to celebrate, with Moree Bulls winning both reserve and first grade matches.
