More than 350 women filled the sidelines for Moree Weebolla Bulls’ 2018 Ladies Day on Saturday, June 30, in what was arguably the club’s most successful ladies day ever.
And although the day was more about celebrating the better halves than the halfbacks, the action on the field also provided something to celebrate, with Moree Bulls winning both reserve and first grade matches.
The first grade top-of-the-table clash saw the Bulls, who are sitting in second place on the 2018 Central North rugby union competition ladder, upset first-placed Pirates in front of the large Ladies Day crowd.
Wearing special pink Ladies Day jerseys the Bulls put up a thrilling fight to defeat Pirates 43-38.
Moree’s reserve grade side also proved too good for the visitors, with the final score 43-5.
Following the first grade match, the Bulls’ Ladies Day jerseys were auctioned off, raising thousands of dollars for this year’s fundraiser.
All funds raised will go towards the Oncology Unit at Moree Hospital.
