As preparations for NAIDOC Week kick into high gear across Australia, Moree NAIDOC Committee has dropped a quick itinerary of events and activities to keep you in the loop about the upcoming celebrations.

July 3
Listeners are encouraged to tune in to Mission Beat for great Murri music and plenty of giveaways.
July 4
An NDIS barbecue will be fired up at Woolworths.
July 6
NAIDOC Art Exhibition opening night at Bank Art Museum Moree at 6pm. “Fifty years – Impressions” will showcase works from local artists.
The exhibition will close on August 18.
July 7
NAIDOC Bowls at Moree Services Club on July 7 at 8.30am. The day will contain Two Bowl Fours and three games of 12 ends. Teams have to consist of at least one novice and one female. Dress code is pink. To register, contact Rod on 0467 722 599.

July 8
NAIDOC Church Service at 10am with morning tea at the Salvation Army on Anne Street.
NAIDOC Snooker at Moree Services Club at 10.30am. Cost is $15.00 per player, which includes lunch. Plenty of great prizes are also on offer.
Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre will launch “Because of her, we can. Because of her, we did” at 6pm. The photographic and biographic exhibition will provide a visual tour of influential Moree women. Light refreshments will also be available.
July 9
A morning tea at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre at 9.30am will mark the official opening of NAIDOC Celebrations.
There will be a march from the local centre to Moree Town Hall at 10.15am. The march will consist of a Welcome to Country, flag raising and guest speakers.
A barbecue lunch will be provided in the park at 12pm (details of venue to follow).
Moree Aboriginal Mini Debutantes Ball (session one) will lift off at the Moree Multi-Purpose Centre at 5.30pm. Entry will cost $10 and is open to children between four to six years of age.

July 10
NAIDOC celebrations at Moree Hospital at 10am.
The Moree Health Service celebrations will be marked with a flag raising, guest speaker, health checks and photo display that showcases women who have influenced, helped and paved the way for others. There will also be a barbecue lunch.
Moree Aboriginal Mini Debutantes Ball (session two) at the Multi-Purpose Centre at 5.30pm Tickets cost $10 and are available to anyone between seven to 10 years of age.

July 11
Morning tea at the Moree Court House at 10am for the NAIDOC Close the Legal Gap Day. Legal representatives will be on hand to manage enquiries.
Elders bingo will happen at St Pius Hall at 11am. Morning tea and lunch will be available to guests.
July 12
Family and Community Services will host Women’s Gathering at BAMM Garden at 10am. The morning meetup will celebrate local women who have made Moree great.
Cultural and Family Day at Moree Boomerangs Oval at 10.30am. A great day out for all family that includes Murri games, jumping castle, slushies, arts corner, face painting, radio broadcasting, stalls and dancing.
Murrioke Singing competition will kick off at the Victoria Hotel at 7pm. The free, annual and wonderful singing competition will have prizes for best male, female and duo. A new prize will also be added: the Mickey Pegus Encouragement Award.
July 13
NAIDOC Golf at 7am. Two man ambrose, for the junior and sub junior divisions. Entry costs $25 per golfer and includes breakfast and lunch.
The night will include the presentation of awards and the crowning of the 2018 NAIDOC princess.
Entertainment is Jarrod Hickling, Billy Pitt and Disco.
Tickets cost $25 per person. They are available at Cafe Gali and Thiyama-li. The ticket includes a light meal. Dress code is formal.

July 14
NAIDOC Shield between Moree Boomerangs and Narwan Eels. Game starts at 12pm. Day includes art corner, races, footy kicking competition, face painting and radio broadcasting.

NAIDOC Disco at the Victoria Hotel at 8pm.
July 15
Closing church service at 10am. Morning tea at the Salvation Army.
July 17
Miyay Birray will host a Junior Disco at the Multi-Purpose Centre at 5.30pm. The evening promises to be full of music and awesome prizes.
July 18
Miyay Birray to host High School Disco at the Multi-Purpose Centre at 6pm.
July 21
NAIDOC Poker will open at Moree Services Club at 12pm for an afternoon of high-stakes Texas Hold ‘Em.
NAIDOC Pool Competition at Victoria Hotel at 6.30pm. NAIDOC Band night will follow at 8pm.
July 22
Fishing competition at 9.30am. Register at Miyay Birray.
July 24
NAIDOC Trivia night at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre at 6pm.
July 25
Elders Dinner and Dance at Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre at 6pm.
July 26
Movie Night at 6.30pm. Theme is Black Panther fancy dress (venue to be advised).
July 27
Centacare Art Exhibition at the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre between 5.30 to 8pm.
July 28
NAIDOC darts competition at Moree Services Club at 10.30am
