Friday June 1 saw students from Bellata Public School travel to Moree to compete in the annual Quad Sports – an athletics carnival between four local small schools – Bellata Public, Rowena Public, Bullarah Public and Mallawa Public schools.

This year was Mallawa’s turn to host the event on what turned out to be a cold but sunny day. The carnival took place at Boughton Oval in Moree.

All Students participated well and competed in 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m running races as well as long jump, high jump, shot put and discus, finishing the day with the relay events.
Bellata students came away with some very pleasing results and many ribbons.
Bellata Public was successful in taking home nine of the Champion and Runner Up trophies on the day.
Bellata cleaned up the trophies in the sub-junior age division with Audrey Cooper awarded joint Junior Girl Champion and Tori Cross the Runner-up.
Flynn McPherson took out Junior Boy Champion with Andrew Stolzenberg received the Runner-up trophy.
The Gillogly siblings cleaned up in the Junior Age division with Max receiving Junior Boy Champion and sister Chloe taking home Junior Girl Champion.
Allira Stolzenberg was awarded the Junior Girl Runner-Up.
In the 11 years Age Division, Bellata was also at the top of the leader board with Ruby Stewart and Angus McPherson coming away with the Champion Trophies.

The overall point score for the day is calculated on a handicap system with total points for each school being divided by the number of students enrolled.
Based on this system, Bellata Public School brought home the Quad Sports trophy this year with Rowena Public School coming in second. Bullarah Public School came third and Mallawa Public School fourth.
Congratulations to all staff and students on a very successful day.
Next year’s Quad Sports Carnival will be hosted by Bellata Public School.
